HENRY HEAP KENDALL
d 4 September 1872
Son of William KENDALL, a miner and ANN (nee: Berry) born Horbury, Yorkshire, England
about 1826. 30 September, 1856, at Hay Street, Port Macquarie, he married Elizabeth DICK,
daughter of THOMAS DICK, Gentleman and Elizabeth (nee: Hay/Hoy/Forest) who was born
at Bathgate, Linlithgowshire.
Their children were: HENRY DICK, WILLIAM HAY, GEORGE RAWDON, (19 January 1866, married ALICE ELIZABETH MASTERS and had three children, he was accidentally drowned on 12 October 1888.)
Henry Heap Kendall, a Farmer and Settler, lived at Rawdon Island, Hastings River, and when aged 47, was accidentally killed by a falling tree.
"Manning River News: 14 September, 1872:
Port Macquarie (from our Correspondent) Monday September 9:
A sad and I am sorry to add, fatal accident occurred at Rawdon Island on Tuesday 3rd inst. MR H.H. KENDALL, having then lost his life under the following circumstances. It appears there was a tree leaning against another near his residence, which was considered to be dangerous, and Mr Kendall, thought it advisable to cut down the tree that was standing. When the tree fell, it went in the opposite direction to what he expected, and of course, he ran away as quickly as possible, but unfortunately not quite fast enough, for a limb struck him on the head and broke his skull. One or two neighbours soon came to his assistance and attempted to carry him into the house but he died before reaching it. I believe his wife witnessed the occurrence is now heart-broken at the loss she has sustained. Beside his widow, the deceased left four children who are quite unprovided for. A friend has kindly undertaken the task of collecting from the benovelent public whatever they may be willing to give in order to assist this bereaved family. I saw a list of names today and it is really a case of deserving charity. I sincerely hope a handsome sum may be raised"
He was buried by Rev John Ayling of the Presbyterian Church, Port Macquarie on 4 September 1872.

Alternate Ancestry:
Henry Heap Kendall is also highly unlikely to be the son of George Kendall, Convict No 33/1299 transported on the ship “Asia” (10) in the year 1833. His native place Southwark, England, occupation grooom. He was tried at Middlesex Quarter Sessions 6th September 1832 aged 17 years.
He received his Ticket of Leave and allowed to remain in the District of Port Macquarie, October 1837.
This is because George Kendall would have only been approx 12 years of age at Henry Heap Kendall’s birth.
