Notes for Joseph Budsworth
a copy of a marriage certificate that shows Joseph BUDSWORTH, a bachelor, married Mary Jane GRIFFIN, a spinster, at Mudgee 2 Jul 1857.
They were both residents of Mucka Mucka.

The fact that Joseph was recorded as a bachelor would negate the fact that he had been married before, but then this may well be incorrect.

This Joseph, who was of Aboriginal descent himself, according to a Coonabarabran newspaper report in 1996 came from the Singleton area having worked for a McMaster family. This newspaper report also said that they had three children whereas records appear to show they only had one child.

From this newspaper report Mary had been a widow for some years before she married George CAIN who was also of Aboriginal descent at Weetaliba.

The child Joseph and Mary had was called James and he was born in 1861 at "Yaminbah" Coonabarabran and he died in 1865 Mar 7 at "Kiandry".

Mary Jane was the founder of the mission Burr Be Dee at Coonabarabran and the road bridge over the Castlereagh River was named the Mary Jane Cain Bridge.

Joseph (b) 1833 he married Mary Jane Graf (Griffin) of Coonabarabran they had one child James. He passed away of child fever in 1865. Joseph moved to Queensland, and worked as a horse breaker/stockman. He passed away of Typhoid (I think) in 1863 and was buried at Kooroom (Tooroom). His wife Mary then married George Cain and they had numerous children. Mary Jane Cain is the founder of the Bura Bee Dee mission out there.
Muka Muka is mentioned on the marriage cert
