Notes for William Kendall
According to David C Kendall (by email) William Kendall (b 17/3/1804) and Anne Young (b 20/7/1810) sailed to Australia on 10 June 1838 from Belfast Northern Ireland, arriving in Port Jackson on 18 October 1838 on the ship “Mandarine”.

They had 12 children.

According to Jessie Donahue, by email 21 Dec 2009, she has been researching William Kendall and Ann Young.  She noticed on this web site that I have listed William Kendall and Ann Yates (married in Sydney 1838) as the parents of, among others Hadassah Kendall and Matilda Kendall.  Hadassah Kendall is her great grandmother.  Her parents were William Kendall and Ann Young, not Yates.  William Kendall and Ann Young were married in County Antrim, Ireland probably about 1829.  They emigrated to Australia, with government assistance on about October 20, 1838.  They then had more children.  They lived in South Creek, near Penrith.  William later became Chief Constable of St. Marys, South Creek.  Hadassah Kendall married Archibald Gilchrist in Sydney on 29 January, 1868.  Her sister Matilda was a witness at her wedding.  Ann Young was listed as her mother's maiden name on both her and her sister's baptismal certificates.

William Kendall's parents were Peter Kendall and Mary (?) Kenner or Kennan of County Antrim, parish of Coleraine, Ireland.  She has not yet traced them any further back.360

Likely that the death as suggested by James Mills of 1855 is incorrect, as Maria Kendall, William’s youngest child was born to “Ann Kendall and William Kendall (deceased)” in 1850.

Mrs Linda Wheeler
Townsville, NQ
states in her email of 10 May 2011 that:

I happened to stumble across your site while looking for information on Jane and Nancy Kendall who married into the Randall family. ( John Randall who married Hannah Ravenscroft is my 4th g grandfather. ) I have found out from wedding notices in the SMH that William and Ann Kendall were their  parents, but I cannot for the life of me find out how they came to Australia.  Have found brothers and sisters in online, New South Wales,  BDM's, but no record for Jane and Nancy, so assumed they were born in the England somewhere.
