Richard Daniell Kendall joined the RAAF on 8 November, 1940. At his medical examination he was 5’ 11.75” tall, weighed 164 lbs, had hazel eyes, dark brown hair and medium complexion. His chest measured 36.5”. He was sent to No1 Recruit Depot, Laverton, with service number 19690 and rank L.A.C. Electrician. Embarked at Sydney for Singapore 30 September, 194. Presumed dead w.e.f. 18 September, 1944 as the result of sinking of Japanese Transport whilst P.O.W. (had been captured by the Japanese in Java). Had been held as P.O.W. in Burma and in Thailand.
